Chocolate mint
The plant is a close relative to ordinary peppermint. It is a cross between Mentha aquatica (watermint) and Mentha spicata (spearmint).Lavender flowers appear in summer at the tip of dark green rouded foliage on vigorous spreading brown stemmed vines. It has the aroma of chocolate, but the taste in foods more closely resembles the citrus flavor of orange mint.
